Doris Gray Brown’s story is one of purpose, service, and community impact that reaches far beyond titles and positions. For more than 40 years, she has used her gifts in healthcare, public health, nursing, leadership, and advocacy to strengthen systems and serve people. Her work has touched communities across Louisiana through her executive leadership with the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, where she helped lead more than 55 public health programs, 1,200 employees, and statewide initiatives that advanced health, emergency preparedness, and community well-being.

Her reach also extends deeply through organizations such as Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the NAACP, NCNW, the Delta Research and Educational Foundation, and the Franchell Boswell Educational Foundation. Through these spaces, Doris has served locally, regionally, and nationally as a mentor, advocate, board leader, health strategist, and servant leader committed to education, health equity, scholarship, civic engagement, and community advancement. Her legacy is not only measured by what she has accomplished, but by the people she has poured into, the organizations she has strengthened, and the generations she continues to inspire.
